Golf Shoe Review, Do you need them?

Golf Shoe Review

One key feature for your golf round that you might not feel you need but I can tell you will help your golf game.  Here we have four golf shoe manufacturers to compare and read about.  In this golf shoe review, we want to give you four options for golf shoes and the key features that they all have.  As with most golf shoes grip is one thing to look for but also that they are waterproof as many times you may be getting out onto the course when there is dew on the ground and wet feet are not the way you want to spend your time on the golf course.

Most golf shoes come with a soft spike design some of them are removable so you can change them out if you wear them out throughout the years of use.  Take a look as these are only four pairs of golf shoes and there are so many more made and hope to add some more in the future.

FootJoy

Golf Shoe Review, Do you need them?

The first shoe we want to talk about is the FootJoy Golf Specialty golf shoe.  As said above this golf shoe is waterproof which will help to keep your feet dry in those sudden rainstorms or early morning golf rounds.  With the waterproof design, they have a 2-year warranty that is on the premise of normal use in the 2 years of the warranty.  A warranty is a nice feature in these shoes but again only if it’s normal to use so if they decide they aren’t waterproof you must remember that is how the warranty works.

These golf shoes also have a nice feature that they come in a narrow or wide design.  If your feet require the wider design these are the shoes for you helping to create comfort and dryness while not having super tight shoes on.  This shoe has been known Golf Shoe Review, Do you need them?to be the number one selling shoe with the Pulsar cleats by Softspikes which help to give you that grip on the course.

The cleat design has been made to make it easier to clean with webbing for the more open cleat.  Having a clean shoe bottom is also a nice thing as you need it to be clean to be able to get that grip your looking for.  This shoe has been chosen by many tour professionals to use out on the course when playing their rounds.  Who wouldn’t want a pair of these knowing they have such great leather while keeping a comfortable and breathable shoe.  You can find this shoe at Fairway Golf USA and many other golf products needed for your golf round.  So go on over to the site just click on the link that is highlighted in the last sentence and check them out.

Puma IGNITE

Golf Shoe Review, Do you need them?

Ok so here is the second pair and I tell you what I like these golf shoes and also like almost all Puma golf equipment.  The Puma IGNITE PWRADAPT golf shoes have been made for grip on the course and comfort.  With these golf shoes, you are going to see some great grip while still having them waterproof.  Puma has always tried to keep all of the golf gear looking very fashionable and these shoes don’t disappoint.

The traction of these shoes is created with the 3-dimensional IGNITE system giving you a soft foam cushion which in turn is going to add to the comfort of the shoe and help with traction.  Having the added grip will allow you to have it in your mind that your feet are going to stick to the ground and not move as you always want to have your feet planted when taking those golf shots.

On the top of the shoes and the side, they have a performance mesh that is going to allow the shoe to breath letting the shoe air out if you will.  If youGolf Shoe Review, Do you need them? have wet feet you will end up a very unhappy golfer halfway through the golf round.  I hate it when my feet get wet so always look for shoes that are waterproof.

These shoes have a 2-year warranty that will be based on normal use so look out for your shoes if you wanted to try to use the warranty during the two years.  Looking into golf shoes is always a challenge but these look and feel like comfort for all the round and more.  You can find these shoes at Fairway Golf USA by going and clicking on the highlighted words and finding the pair and color you want and need.

Then next on the list is the Under Armour UZ Fade RST 2, what a mouthful for sure.  This leather shoe has been made for comfort and dryness.  Jordan Spieth uses Under Armour shoes but in his own named shoe but this is another made from Under Armour.  Having comfort and breathable shoes is again what they are trying to provide for the golfer.

The Clarino microfiber on the upper part of the shoe is where you will get the added airflow.  Helping to keep your feet cool on those hot days out on the golf course.  If you find that you are out on the course and it starts to rain these are waterproof and have a 1-year warranty for normal use of the golf shoe.

Another part of having a comfortable shoe is the molded removable footbed.  Being able to remove this will help to keep your shoes fresh and aired Golf Shoe Review, Do you need them?out after each round.  Taking this out will help to get the shoe dry if your feet really sweat out on the course which mines really do a lot.  The shoe also has a durable rubber outside sole and a molded midsole giving the shoe tight construction.

These golf shoes come in either a spikeless or spiked design which gives you many options when looking for an all-around golf shoe.  The spikes have been designed so your feet will lock onto any surface for a great grip for your golf shots.  When searching for golf shoes look into these will built shoes and find them at Fairway Golf USA click the link and you’re on the way.

  1. Hey, nice review of golf shoes but I was wondering if I really need a pair of golf shoes if my sneakers are already waterproof? I know some of those golf shoes come with little spikes but my sneakers have good gripping on the soles so I’m not sure if I need to bother with golf shoes or not. What do you think? Thanks

    • It depends on whether or not you golf a lot.  I have found that they are very helpful keeping my feet planted better than tennis shoes.  It is a personal preferance to buying and using them but your feet will be better planted on the tee box with the short grass when there is any type of moisture present.  Also as far as waterproof that is also up to you as some people will not play when the grass is wet or raining but I like then being waterproof to help keep my feet dry as they tend to sweat in my shoes so keep any extra ou.  Thank you for the comments and good luck out on the golf course.  Happy holidays.

  2. When it comes to golf, golf shoes can certainly make a big difference. Golf can be a difficult and sometimes frustrating sport, so it’s important to gain the best edge possible. I have actually tried to golf without shoes when I was younger and it definitely made a difference especially when driving the ball. From your choices I really like the Puma IGNITE as the traction looks pretty outstanding and definitely unique. Also, they look great with a really sleek design. With holiday season approaching I think these will make for a perfect gift and I have saved your post for when it’s soon time to order. Thanks for the great recommendation!

  3. Hello Douglas!

There are nice models of shoes in your article! Your detailed information about them helps people know how to choose the best golf shoes and also understand what they are about. I never knew shoes can have a footbed also.

Even without actually playing golf, I think people could use these shoes for various purposes like running or going on foot for larger distances. The Under Armour and Nike Rosche shoes look really cute to me.

Have good luck with playing golf, and best regards!

    • Yes the golf shoes are made to help  you with your footing on any surface.  Most golf courses can have hills and they can be slippery where with golf shoes the chance of slipping is less.  Over the years golf shoe companies have tried to make them more fashionable also which helps with many people’s choices on golf shoes.  Thank you for the comments.

  5. Hi! Thanks for this article, very helpful. I now play golf for years, in the beginning I was not able to see what difference golf shoes or my regular running trainers could make to the quality of my game.

It was my wife that gave me my first golf shoes, I do not remember the brand. I noted the improvement immediately. Then 4 years ago I bought a PUMA golf shoes, it was a completely new world, it was the best golf experience I could ever had. Here in the north the grass is wet in the morning, so early tee time is only possible with PUMA golf shoes.

Now it is time to buy a new one, then I came across you website. I need to thank you for the quality of your review and I am excited about the PUMA Ignite!! I am deciding whether to buy it and I have a question for discussion:

What are the best golf shoes to buy during winter season? Where you are not only dealing with the wind and concentration, but you are also dealing with the cold. Cold feet do not help concentration.

Count on your help to make my final choice!

    Thank you, Eddie

    • As far as winter golf where and what temperatures would you be golfing in.  I know for sure that Adidas makes a taller golf shoe that is meant for cooler temps and waterproof.  As far as wind and cold feet I just was putting together a couple of options for golf shoes and never gave that a thought as to cool and windy days and I will be looking into that in the future.  I hope this helps you out and feel free to add your email to the website bottom right and follow as a add more posts on golf equipment,  Thank you and good luck out on the course.

  7. Hello Douglas,

You have listed down four awesome Golf shoes in this article. Among those four Puma IGNITE seems to be able to catch my interest the most. I like their 2 year warranty, three dimensional IGNITE system and the performance mesh on the side. Even though I am not very experienced in Golf, I think Puma IGNITE shoe would be more comfortable and useful compared to other. Other than that I like the wide and narrow designs of FootJoy shoes simply because I have narrow feet and sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect fit. 🙂
Could you please give me a rough idea about how the prices vary between FootJoy and Puma IGNITE shoes?

    Reply
    • If you click on the links to Fairway Golf USA you can find the pricing but the FootJoy are $99.99 and the Puma are $109.99  I picked these four pairs as they were around the same price range.  Me personally I love the Puma brand not just in the shoes but everything it’s so flashy and I guess I like to stand out a little.  I hope this will help you out and good luck in the future golfing.

  9. As a new fan of the great game of golf .It’s ironic because I use to hate it when a golf tournament preempted a basketball or football game a few years ago.I really thought it was a boring sport .Until Tiger Woods made it cool and exciting to watch and play golf. This was an excellent review of the some of the best golf shoes on the market.I appreciate you sharing some insight into the specs and comfort of each pair of shoe in relation to climate and feel for the shoe themselves .Cannot wait for the Presidents Cup.

    Thanks for the share .

    • Yea I have always been into golf since a was very young the best part of golf is that it is a game. Still a sport but when push comes to shove you play against yourself and you win everytime by yourself. Although if I was good enough I would be playing in tournaments which is playing against others but my point is that anyone can pick up the game and not have to worry about winning or losing. Golf shoes are important for the game although some people think they don’t help I have always found it to be helpful to wear them on the golf course. I can’t wait for the Presidents Cup and hope I can get tickets and go to at least one day.
      Thank you very much

  11. As a golfer, it is very important to have waterproof shoes, as you often walk in wet grass and having wet socks and feet all day is no fun. It is also great to have spikes that are interchangeable when they wear out without having to buy a new pair of shoes.

The next thing I would look for is a lightweight shoe with a soft and flexible sole, as walking a lot is not fun in heavy non-pliable shoes. Which on in your opinion offers the best of all the benefits that I have listed above?

    Reply
    • Out of all of the shoes in the list as far as them being soft flexible and lightweight.  They all have been made to meet these criteria in the shoes.  When searching out for a lightweight shoe again I really like Puma shoes and have found them to meet all of the questions that you have but I feel that FootJoy makes an amazing golf shoe also as far as them standing up to the elements and lasting a long time.  I hope this helps and if you have more questions feel free to let me know in the future.  Thank you again

I am happy I stumbled across your blog about golf shoes.  My dad loves to golf and I wanted to get him a new fancy pair of golf shoes for Christmas because his have seen better days.  Having said that I am really loving how the Puma golf shoes look as my dad can be quite the snazzy dresser on the golf course.  I think this will give him some more pep in his step and hopefully help with his golf game.

  13. Your article is very timely.  I have almost stopped golfing because of recent problems with my feet.  I have read your review of each shoe with interest.  It was interesting to find that the FootJoy shoe comes in a wide size.  You have offered a great deal of detail in terms of cleats, materials and insoles.  This is great information.  I am wondering if any of these shoes come with extra support.  I know they are primarily worn on grass, but at this point, my doc is recommending lots of support.  I am sure this can be added to any shoe.  Thanks for the article.  I am hoping to get back to my game soon.

    Reply
    • I am not sure on the adding of support I would think you could since almost all shoe companies are trying to make it easier for people that need added support to add to their shoes.  I hope you can find a pair that will work for you and get back on the golf course as I can’t wait to get out next spring.  Hope winter is really fast.  Thank you for checking out my site and come back anytime I am trying to add more info on a weekly basis.

All of the four Puma IGNITE seems in order to seize my interest the most. I like their three dimensional IGNITE machine and the overall performance. All though I am no longer very experienced in Golf, I assume Puma IGNITE shoe would be more comfortable and useful most than others. Other than that I like the extensive and slim designs of FootJoy footwear honestly because I have slim ft and sometimes it’s tough to find the proper healthy.

Thumbs up to you for nice effort.
